If you already have your own website and you want to make money from it, one road to consider going down is joining an affiliate program.

If you've yet to start up your own website you can get in touch with a web designer who has experience with affiliate marketing.

An affiliate means you make money by advertising products or services from other merchants, by the placing of banners or text links on your site.

If a visitor to your website clicks on the banner then go to the merchants' website and make a purchase from which you make a commission from the sale.

But you won't make a fortune simply by putting a banner on your site, unless you're one of the lucky ones who receive thousands of visitors on a daily basis.

But with a few simple techniques you could make even a small site earn you a useful income.

Firstly, try affiliating yourself to a merchant whose products are more likely to be bought by a visitor to your site, there would be no point in advertising dog food when your website is about PC maintenance.

To begin try taking a look at one of the best affiliate network directories, the 'Commission Junction' it's free to join and you won't be charged for linking up with one of the listed sellers.

The whole process is very straightforward and simple, you won't need any programming expertise to get going.

Advertising other peoples' products is a good way of earning an income via your site, you're just pointing someone in a particular direction and that's your job finished.

You probably have second thoughts about making money from blogging, it's common for some people to think it might be evil, lame or obnoxious, then the best thing to do is not commercialise it at all.

If the whole idea of monetizing your blog sits OK with you then have a go, or if you think it's somehow evil then of course, that's fine as well.

You must be absolutely 100% sure in your mind before you begin, because attempting to generate earnings from your blog is hard enough, without self-sabotage kicking in and making your attempt somewhat half-hearted.

You ought to feel great about generating income this way, there's not much wrong about being eager to succeed.

If in your opinion your blog has real value then earning income from it should be no more than you deserve.

But don't be shy about selling this thing, when you put ads on there you have to really put those ads up there the same with requesting donations, don't be shy.

Some people might complain, they always do when you commercialise a free site.

But is it possible to make a proper living online? Undoubtedly. It may take longer if you have a day job but if you're committed the opportunity is there.

As far as the development team are concerned it is for, "Making money by feeding the Google Monster it's favourite food without hardly lifting a finger"

A cool, if overlong tag line, but it's not about that, it's about whether or not it's worth the money!

The initial setup is intriguing, firstly you buy MANY domains, hosting and Niche Devil, you then install the Niche Devil onto your hosting account, then you run the script and insert your chosen keywords and affiliate links for the store you want to build and abracadabra, Niche Devil spits out a site with content and products in about 37 seconds. Got to be witchcraft, all you need now is a few customers, and Niche Devil even promises that to, with the help of pinging but for the moment let's take a breath and consider the pros and cons.

The script that you upload to your server/hosting account via ftp will mean that it will have to meet certain minimum requirements.

Just like the old BANS stores, Niche Devil does the same thing and look what happened there, The Niche Devil has made a lot of noise about it's "ever refreshing" content, pulling/scraping content from the Internet that relate to your chosen keywords, which works great and looks good but the legality of using what maybe copyrighted material maybe another matter.

Niche Devil is promoting itself as with statements such as "Hurry up, only available for 14 days" which raises some issues.

They have restricted the time it is available, why? Is it to make you purchase now or do they what will happen when our experience of the product becomes a reality and why would you sell a product you are convinced will make everyone so rich and not just use it yourself.

You could become a professional Twitter contributor for a business or company, most companies aren't prepared for the social media realm but are longing to join, they need people who are already expert and when you see in the job boards "Seeking Twitter Pros" you'll be on a winner.

You could also sell stuff on Twitter, it's not uncommon to find "Special offers for Twitter followers", you can try combining micro blogging and micro funding to create "Micro fundraising", promoting music. A new service called Tra.kz combines a short URL service with a market place and a music community, which can only be better than the music industry or the iTunes monopoly on selling music online.

There is also of course, advertising. There are two Twitter ads services I've noticed: Magpie and The Branch, neither seem spammy but do appear professional enough although as yet I don't know if you can earn proper money without your followers being scared off.

Another Twitter ad solution is Twitadd, this service places banner ads on your Twitter page, you could also sneak in affiliate links, not cheating as such but there can't be anything wrong with getting commission from services you already support.

There are business opportunities to find on Twitter, there are daily Tweets saying stuff like "Looking for x programmer", offering Twitter Apps, many companies offer Twitter Apps for free, but as more professional applications appear on the web, there are more that people will pay for.

Although commonplace on blogs, reviewing a product on Twitter doesn't actually happen yet, but not being able to advertise your own content seems unfair, Twitter may be simple and limited but it can be used for so many different purposes, soon there may be companies who will require Twitter consultants and specialists to teach them how to use it in their particular niche market.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

It is a term that often is used to describe a relationship between a company and individual. The individual often refers products and services that the company offers.

A merchant is the supplier of the goods, the company.

The person who is the direct link between the company and the customer is the affiliate. This is the person that makes sales happen.

Where to start

Affiliate marketing is easy to set up. There are so many programs that offer services.

You may of heard of programs like commission junction. It is where merchants register, and affiliates join to promote the merchants goods.

You need to have a think about where you are going to sell the merchants good before you can do anything else.

What I recommend

Build a website for the products you will be promoting.

You must spend time planning your marketing campaign. Making sure you are able to generate quality traffic.

Your marketing campaign will involve:

Researching your niche and the keywords customers associate with it

SEO (search engine optimization) both on site and off site

How much money can you earn?

As you are paid commissions, if you don't sell anything you wont make any money.

This is why your marketing campaign is very important. If you get it wrong you are off to a non starter.

When your site and marketing campaign is launched. All you need to do next is paste your affiliate code on your site. Then you are all set to go.

It does not matter what your website is for, be it business or pleasure, a definite must have is traffic.

The Internet is so big, you are just a little fish in such a big sea.

Ways to increase your existence online.

Before you can set about increasing the traffic to your site, you will need to plan your marketing campaign.

Learn about your potential visitors

You may of heard about programs that promise to send you large amounts of traffic. These however are no good because your visitors need to be targeted.

For example, if you had football website, is having a pop up banner on a ballet site going to send you customers that will purchase your goods? Unlikely.

What I am trying to say is that you need to research who your potential customers will be and make your site available to them.

Using search engine optimization

Those learning seo for the first time, are often left a bit dismayed. It can be very complicated.

Don't let anyone tell you seo is quick and easy. It consists of many on site and off site optimization strategies and is very time consuming.

I have a simple seo guide for those of you who want to start at the beginning with seo. Don't worry if you have to call in a seo expert. Outsourcing these kind of tasks can be a wise move.

Pay per click - PPC

This can be a very fast way of getting your site noticed. It is also an expensive learning curve so make sure you get to grips with pay per click management before you start.

Social networking to get traffic

You can use blogs, message boards and forums to get more traffic. Links on social pages are valuable.

Whichever route you take for your marketing campaign, one thing you must do is lots and lots of research. A poor campaign will lead to poor traffic.

I hope this short piece has given you some ideas.

Having a website that has high search engine ranking, has many advantages. Although learning seo can be a little mind blowing, did you know that the simplest seo mistakes can ruin your chances of search engine ranking.

1. Targeting the wrong keywords

Keyword research is the starting point for your seo campaign. Get this wrong and it is over before you have begun. Make sure the keywords you target are used by searchers and are relevant to your niche.

2. Forgetting to use title tags

A common mistake is to forget to use individual title tags for each page of your website. Titles tell searches and Google what your page is about.

3. Too much flash

Googles spiders cannot read flash when they crawl your site. If you really want to use flash, make sure you also include the html mark-up.

4. Back link spamming

This is a mistake even the best of webmasters are making. Link farms are frowned upon by Google. You will get a much better result by chasing quality one way links from a high pr website.

5. Overdoing the keywords

Your content must make sense. If you try and over do the keywords you will get penalized by Google quickly. What you write must flow.

6. Your keyword density should stay below 5%

7. Duplicate content. If you use content that has been used elsewhere, you will get your website sand boxed by Google. Search engines love fresh content.

8. Inadequate navigation

Your sites navigation and links must be clean and unbroken. Your visitors and search engine bots must be able to find their way around your site.

9. Using images for headers

Headers are what Google bots read first. Make sure you include your important keywords in your headers not just images.

10. Unreliable hosting. I have often made the mistake of using cheap hosting. I was not keen on changing but boy did it make a difference when I did. Outages and servers going down will annoy your visitors and confuse Google bots. This will stop you getting high search engine ranking.

1. Keyword Research

You need to decide which keywords you want high search engine ranking with.

Research is vital, you must make sure the keywords you want to rank high with, pr actually used by searchers.

2. Who are your competitors?

You have to beat your competitors to the top spots. Type in your keywords in the search bar and analyze the top 10. See what they are doing.

3. Title

There are two tips for optimizing your pages titles. One is to make sure each page has a different title.

Secondly try to include your main keywords in the title. But, make sure they are relevant and make sense. Don't keyword spam.

4. Your meta tags

Only use meta tags if you understand them. They are not that important. The keyword density has to be spot on.

5. use headings

The keywords that are included in the headers, tell googles bots that they are important.

6. Always make sure your content is updated often and it is original. Google will penalize you if you have duplicate content on your website.

7. If you can get a high pr website to link to your site, you are on to a winner. Remember anchored keyword links are best.

8. If you have a site map on your website, you are more likely to get more of your pages indexed.

9. Alt tags should always have a description and should not be left blank.

10. You need to update your website often, even if it is just a little tweak. Google loves sites that are maintained often.

Seo is very rewarding for your website but it can also be difficult. I have written lots of articles on seo for beginners. Always start with the simple things and take it from there.

This is for all you newbies who have heard the phrase seo and wondering what on earth it is all about.

Seo is a shortened phrase for search engine optimization.

It is a process that is done to make sure website pages are optimized for google and other search engines.

Why use seo?

One thing any site needs, regardless of it's purpose, is traffic. You need people to visit your website.

It is true that many methods for traffic building exist, all are effective but one you should always consider is search engine traffic.

Organic ranking is when you naturally rank high on search engines for your keywords.

This is something you should aim for.

It is a fact that the majority of searches who use google, only click on listings that appear above the fold. With this in mind your goal should be to appear in the top 3 search results.

Where to start?

I am going to write articles for beginners. I wont use big overstated terms and i will take it slow.

Despite it's first impressions, seo is not rocket science, but it does take some hard work.

You must stick with it if you want to succeed. You will get the hang of it.

Things you need

A website to fiddle with

Patience

Lots of coffee lol

Right, that's the basic run down on what seo is. Shall we get you onto the next bit on how to get high search engine ranking.

In my last post we looked at search engine optimization or seo for short.

Which is best for your Internet marketing campaign? Seo or AdWords?

The answer is simply.......... BOTH.

What is Google AdWords?

It is a pay per click program that gets you fast traffic.

1. Join Google AdWords

2. Tweak your settings such as your daily budget.

3. Build your keywords list

4. Create your ads and then your ready to go.

Why both seo and AdWords are a good idea

Seo friendly pages will bring free organic traffic to your website.

Google AdWords will generate fast targeted traffic for your website.

By using both seo and AdWords you get the best of both worlds.

I have heard google AdWords is expensive!

To the majority of beginners, AdWords is an expensive learning curve. However, if you use it correctly, the ROI is significant.

I am not going to waffle about the right way of setting up AdWords in this post, you need to digest a bit at a time. But what i will say is that seo and AdWords can compliment each other and actually lower the price you pay for a click on your ad.

For all those newbies to Internet marketing, my advice for you is to learn both seo and google AdWords.

In my next post i will do a complete beginners guide to AdWords.

search engine optimization (seo) is basically making your website search engine friendly.

No matter what your online business is, you will benefit from having a seo friendly website.

You may have your own ways of getting traffic, but organic free traffic is always a bonus.

Having your site rank high for certain keywords will bring you FREE quality traffic.

How to search engine optimize your website

1. Research your keywords

You need to do a bit of research here and decide the keywords you want to get high ranking with. Remember to include some long tail keywords too.

2. website URL

There is debate as to whether this matters with seo. It does and it doesn't. It is not vital but in my opinion it is better to include keywords in your URL if you are not going for a branding approach.

3. Content

Some say content is king. But with search engine optimization too many aspects are taken into consideration for it just to be about content.

The content that is on your website has to appeal to both your viewers and search engines.

Include your keywords, ensuring your sentences make sense. Keyword density should be below 5% to avoid being seen as spam.

4. Links

The best links are the ones that are one way and keyword anchored.

A one way, keyword anchored link, from a website with high pr is GOLD.

I have given you the 4 basic seo tasks you need to perform on your website.

If you would like me to do a free seo report on your website, get in touch.

What is Dropshipping

It is best described as a selling technique that works through 3 streams.

1. The retailer, which is you, sells a product.

2. You pass the order to your wholesaler or manufacturer.

3. The manufacturer or wholesaler, sends the order straight to the customer.

You don't get any aggro from having to post products or deal with returns.

This is where your market research will come in handy

Writing can be classed as either an occupation or a hobby. It would be great to make money from your hobby, wouldn't it?

How to make money writing

Shall we have a little brainstorming session? It always awakens the mind and generates ideas.

Feel free to comment if you know any other ways of making money from writing.

Blogging - writing quality content and monetizing your blog.

There is always a reader waiting to read what you have written

Whether you write poetry, fiction or self help, you can grab an audience both online and off line.

When you hear the words "Make Money Free", does it actually mean what it says. There must be some cost involved?

Well here is what I mean by making money for free...............

The Internet is full of money making opportunities. These opportunities comprise of ones you have to pay to join and ones that are free. The opportunities that don't charge you to join, are the ones I refer to as "free money makers".

Are Opportunities that charge you to join scams?

Absolutely not. Webmasters who charge to join there money making opportunity, do so because they can. Simple as that, they still have to earn money.

Why I write more about free money making opportunities?

This is because most of my readers are beginners. Every beginner to making money online will incur a steep learning curve, I don't want you to experience an expensive one. If you begin by using all the free ways to make money, by the time you become more experienced, you will have the ability to determine what will work and what will fail.

But everything costs money, right?

All my articles consist of ways to earn money without the risk. I will never promote a scam, and I will never promote something that will break your bank. With anything you do online, you still have to pay hosting, connection fees, this is obvious and unavoided. With money making opportunities like auctions, you will have to pay a listing fee and valuation fee. So not completely free, but they won't charge you anything to join, and what you spend is completely in your control.

Free ways to Make Money

Filling in surveys

Blogging

Your own website

ppc

Selling affiliate products

Outsourcing

Selling ads

I would of missed many more ways to make money for free off the above list, but I am sure you will agree. Beginners are on a journey, and the journey is best done cheaply until more knowledge and understanding is acquired.

Anyone who has a website, should consider making money from AdSense.

What is Google AdSense?

Google allows webmasters to place ads across its Google mammoth networks. This is called Google AdWords.

Google will share some of this revenue with you, by allowing you to place these ads on your website. This is called AdSense.

So to recap, AdWords is where you write ads and advertise on other sites and across Google. You pay for every ad click.

AdSense is when you get paid for having other people ads on your website.

How much can you earn with AdSense?

Google will pay you a commission, each time and ad on your website is clicked.

The ads that will be displayed on your website are content targeted.

Targeted ads on your site will mean, that you are more likely to get someone clicking on the ads. If for example your site is all about golf, your visitors wont be interested in hair extension ads.

Earn more money with AdSense

Here are some ways you can make more money with Google AdSense.

Don't click on he ads yourself, Google are clever and you will get suspended. It is really not worth the risk.

Place the ads above the fold, right in the eye shot of your visitors.

If you are building a website just for AdSense, then make sure you pick a niche, that you know enough about to write quality content.

It is important that you have lots of targeted traffic to your website. I have written articles on how you can achieve this.

Some people use AdSense to cover the cost of having their website. But others make lots of money.

You will be surprised to hear that this is one of the best ways to make money online. In fact the number of companies that outsource is huge.

What is outsourcing?

You can outsource anything, the purpose is to speed up your production and turnaround time. Do you think companies do everything themselves? Far from it.

Here are some things you might want to outsource

Content writing

Email marketing

ppc management

products

website

Advertising

The list could go on and on. But my point is that you cannot do everything yourself, and why would you want to. There are only so many hours in a day, and your goal is to make as much money as possible.

How to outsource

You need to be good at networking, this is essential when dealing with the people you are going to outsource from. Research is also vital, in order to beat your competitors.

Marketing outsourced products is huge. It leaves you with more time to make more money and more profits.

Looking for ways to make money online is a bit daunting, especially if you are a beginner. You will not be short of ways to earn money on the Internet, but deciding which one is for you is a tough one.

Where to begin

The problem with making money on the Internet is that you will have many competitors. You have to beat these competitors. To be good at something you have to enjoy it. That is the only way, to perserve and put your heart into something. Make a list of all the things you enjoy doing. The list could consist of blogging, filling in surveys, giving people advice...and so on.

Turn your list into a money making plan

With your list of things you enjoy doing, you can turn it into a great money making plan. Let us call it a brainstorm. The thing about brainstorming is, that it opens your mind and helps you to span an idea. Use a separate piece of paper for each activity you wrote down. On each piece of paper, fill it will all the ideas you can think of for that activity. You will be surprised at the things you come up with. Don't worry if your ideas don't seem to be ways of making money, the thing about the Internet is, that you can earn money many different ways. In my previous post we looked at how you can monetize any website without selling products. The Internet is not just about e commerce.

Getting started

The importance of planning is crucial. Too many people jump in with an idea without properly planning. You need to see what your potential earnings will be, goals need to be set, and research needs to be done. One of the things you will want to do now, is to press on with so much enthusiasm, Be careful though, not to fail before you have begun. Don't be over keen to start all your money making ideas. Start with one, and when that one is fully set up, then think about another, not before.

How to make sure you succeed

Your biggest problem will be your competitors, but with your determination and your pre-planning, you will be able to succeed. You need to make sure you are always one step ahead of them and offering a different approach.

Notice in this post I have not given you many examples of money making opportunities. This is because, i want you to develop your own. If i give you examples this early on, you will adopt them, and that won't help you to develop your own niche and your own unique ways. Remember,in the very beginning of the post, when I said that it is important to do something you enjoy? well, this is the crucial secret to making money online. The rest will come.

Online scammers are getting more clever, you maybe a person who is very level headed and does not fall for money making scams, but unfortunately we are all victims at some point.

What is a scam?

A scam is something that is set up to defraud you. It can be to get your personal information, or it can be to sell you something that is not as described.

Credit card fraud

Spoof emails claiming to be from official companies

False auctions

The most one people will fall for is get rich quick scams. These are tough ones, many cannot be classed as scams because, the webmasters are very careful how they describe the money making opportunity. The only problem with many get rich quick schemes is, the only person getting rich quick is in fact the person who created it, the webmaster.

The only way to avoid get rich quick scams is to always remember, "if something seems to good to be true, it is"

I am not saying that all money making opportunities are scams, far from it, all I will say is that to get rich or make a decent amount of money online, takes time.

How do I know if a money making opportunity is legit?

Use Google search and forums, to check out if anyone has reviewed them.

If you want to get rich from the internet, then you have to do create a niche and be exceptional at it. If you want to get involved in an existing money making opportunity, then there are lots of earn money for free websites that will help and advise you.

To make money from your blog you have to monetize it. How you do this will depend on the readers you attract.

What is a Blog?

Anyone can blog about anything. Information is something everyone is looking for and we all have our own pieces of information, opinions and views. Blogging, although it can be classed as a social thing can also be turned into an internet marketing strategy.

Ways to Make Money from your blog

PPC which means pay per click is the most common way of making money from your blog. You put ads on your blog and you get paid when someone clicks on them. The programs that most bloggers use are adsense and bidvertiser.

Affiliate products is another method. If you join an affiliate program, you will be provided with a unique code that you paste onto your blog. You write posts recommending affiliate products, when someone buys one of these products through your unique code, you get a commission.

You can sell ad space on your blog which we discussed in the previous post. You must make sure you have plenty traffic before anyone will consider advertising with you.

Can you make lots of money?

The amount of money you will make will depend on many things. First thing you need to do is make sure your blog is interesting. Make sure your blog is about something you know lots about and have plenty to say.

Secondly you need to make sure your traffic is targeted. It is not about quantity, but rather it is about quality. If someone for example is a golfer and stumbles on your cooking blog. Will they stay and read your posts? Highly unlikely. This is where Internet Marketing comes in. Successful bloggers are also internet marketers.

I will close this subject for now and let you digest. I will write another post soon, about how to market your blog and how to make sure your posts are interesting. These are vital ways to ensure you make money from your blog.
